Hello welcome to my weekly blog where I write about people who have inspired me, and one of those people is someone who whenever I felt stressed about something, one of his songs would come on the radio, as if he knew I would be listening.

I have seen this man twice once at Wembley Stadium and then in Hyde Park, at the Hard Rock Festival, and was very much planned last minute but well worth it.

He was fornominal and I always say you know how good a person is at what they are famous for when they are brilliant live, and he was. It is the legendary, the First Sir of Rock, The Boy in Blue, Sir Rod Stewart.

I would go and see him again as it was one of the best concerts and festivals I have been too. Sir Uncle Rod did something that noone else did, and that he has had number hit record in every decade, since he began his career.

Now many think that he started his career in the Seventies, but as my father inlaw knows a lot about music back then, knows that he was actually known in the sixties as there is a Rock ‘n’ Roller who said his name in one of his songs, but obvioiusly was a youngster then, but yes people within the industry back then knew of him and helped him begin a career in music. It was a song sung by Jeff Beck.

He did the whole thing like many artists and even comedians back then did, performed in many Clubs and Pubs and was in a Rock Band called the Faces. He then as he moved towards the end of the 70’s began a Solo career and had endless hits like, If ya think I’m Sexy, Baby Jane, one of my favourites and saw live singing with Stevie Nicks at the Hard Rock calling festival, Maggie May and Have I told you lately that I love you.

They are but a few, but I could go on and mention more. There have been many artists within music that have not lasted but it has for Rod for over 70 years or so, and to last that long means that he has a forever lasting legacy which will continue to grow passed his life, like many singers of his generation.

Rod never really wrote many of his songs, but collaborated with various artists like Van Morrison, Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac and his best mate who was also a band member of the Faces, Ronnie Wood, who wrote many of Cyndi Lauper songs, which became hits and another Artist I love listening too.

Ronnie and Rod were school friends and grew up together. It is good to have friends in the industry as you can have those who try to intervene and destroy you, but pretend to be a fan and a support, but move the carpet underneath you and try and take your fame away, for themselves.

I would love to see Cyndi Lauper and Rod Stewart do a song together, not hinting by any means but if you are reading this Sir Rod, who is actually Scottish not English, because he really is and you may see him at many of Scotland International matches in football and rugby, but I think it would be a massive hit and many may think they couldn’t because they have different voices, but it can. Noone thought that he would sing a Van Morrison song, with Van Morrison himself, because his music was mainly country and western, but he did.

They sang together live.

Here is a video of Rod Stewart performing with the wonderful and glorious Tina Turner, “It Takes Two”

His parents was born and raised in Scotland and he spent some of his childhood living their too, and always has respected the country in which he comes from, and has lived in London for a while too, aswell as America. He is but a few that have made it across the water, and will be a name and artist that everyone knows. One of his daughters is an artist too, Kimberley Stewart, and his gorgeous wife Penny is a household name, who was a model to begin with but since then been into photography and helped with the covers of her husband, Sir Rod, CD covers and has also been on loose women.

When he was in the Faces he was destined to be a pin up for many ladies, but since those days, his is very much a Private Family man and word has it he ain’t bad with the old Golf Club. Perhaps he could give my brother a clump being that he thought he was Nick Faldo when playing Pitch ‘n’ Putt, and loves spending Christmas both in America and Scotland.

There is a song that he recorded recently and do feel like I wrote the song in some way as it is the most beautiful song I have ever heard, and that is The First Time.

He does a lot of work with the Royal Family and is often invited to Royal Banquettes and parties, but he doesn’t shy away from being typical Rock and Roller, by the fact that he still sings and performs like he first began his career at the age of 16.

Rod, you are a legend and I hope there will be more songs and albums to come, and that he will do more concerts as I will most definitely be there if you do.

So I will be back next week sharing more Inspiring stories and please see enclosed a Christmas song by Rod Stewart:

Merry Christmas everyone! Many thanks for following my blog it truly is special feeling to know that you like my blog posts and if you have suggestions of content you’d like me to share then please leave a comment below.

Dame Vera Lynn obituary | Music | The Guardian

I love being inspired by others and thrive on it a lot, and there is one person who springs to mind and that is of Dame Vera Lynn who sadly passed away today.

She didn’t come from a rich home but became a household name from a very young age singing to the troops who fought in the war and helped bring happiness through her music alive.

You don’t have to have loads of money to be a success, you just got to have shear determination and drive.

She wanted to help others through Lockdown by re-releasing her song We’ll meet again, to bring hope that we will see our love ones again after lockdown and she was right.

I grew up listening to Dame Vera Lynn’s music through my dad always playing her songs and would often play her version of There’ll always be an England.

She could have easily shied away from singing during the war and gone into hiding but she didn’t in fact it was through her music people kept their spirits high, and gave hope to others and was the pinnacle of her career and became more popular through producing music still during the war and even had her own show on the radio too.

To be success you have to do things out of the norm sometimes where other people would not dream of going, you do have to do things outside your comfort zone, to get a name for yourself.

That is why people like Martin Luther King became a household name because he spoke out about racism that others wouldn’t.

So lets celebrate and raise our glasses for those who inspire us and keep us going each day.

Stay safe and many thanks for reading,

I felt I needed to share this as I do find Music so empowering. I discovered this song yesterday, even though it was 7 years ago since published, I only found it yesterday and it was one of the moments where I thought, where had I been? How come I have not come across this song?

When my son was a baby the two things that calmed him down if he woke up from his nap grumpy was one of two things, music and books.

The songs that we have together is the song Come Chameleon, save all your kisses for me and Flying Pickets, Only You.

Music is so empowering that there isn’t a day that goes by without me spending half and hour or so just playing and listening to track after track.

It can take you back in time, remind you of someone that is no longer in your life or a place. Music is versatile and is forever revolving.

The one programme I miss is a UK programme called Top Of The Pops and that was a massive show to be on. Star after star would take to the stages of that show, and was only a Thursday every week at 7:30pm.

I now when I can watch the repeats on BBC 4.

Music can do wonders and has been used to save peoples lives, like Comic Relief songs and Children in Need, Band Aid and We are the World.

So if you need a bit of a push and a shove to get empowered wack on some tunes and let the days and nights begin, bringing back those happy events, for new ones to arrive.

Hello and welcome to another blogpost.

In this post today I am talking about Taking Control of your life.

Yes I am confused by the lockdown like many, the questions that came into my head were is do I go out or not? I can go to work but can only see one person, like that is possible?

The one thing it has made me do during this Pandemic is Take control of my life, by working on my blogs, books, researching for content and watching some Youtube videos, and really buckling down and do some work.

Just because there is a lockdown doesn’t mean we have to slouch in front of the TV we can still be productive.

I have been staying at my mum’s until I can find somewhere else to go to, my marriage has come to an end, so I haven’t had to do any cleaning as much but schedule my days better and have gotten so much more done.

It doesn’t have to be strenuous work just 5 minutes a day concentrating on something other than what you would normally do, can make such a different.

I have come up with more content for my blogs and I am in the process of developing an Online course, which I will be launching soon and started writing a book based on many topics covered on the blog site.

It is amazing how much you can get done check out this template from Word Excel that I use to help me schedule my work load.

blog schedule template

When I have days where I have felt a little glum I have listening to music, here is a song that I  have discovered which speaks wonders it is called “Nothing going to bring me down”

So keep going and keep safe and lets hope we can return to normal very soon.

Finding Peach and Mind, get inspired

Sometimes I have to admit that on certain days I do get so overwhelmed that all I want to do is crawl up into a ball and just disappear.

Being parent I find can add to those feelings, as much as being parent it is rewarding too. There are sometimes no space for me to scream out “Don’t do this”.

So finding peace of mind can really help. The one thing that always brings me peace of mind in an instant is music, I couldn’t live without it, it has been my thing I have loved and given me escapism all the time, when times were tough.

It is important I feel to have peace of mind, just to breath in and  breath out, and switch off from the everyday pressures that I  have faced.

Here are some tunes that bring me peace of mind at the moment.

I love these types of tunes as they instantly help ease the mind and let feel at peace with myself, and I fill that is important to gain control of the mind. There have been times where I have lost control and when that happens you can end up in a very dark place in your mind.

Listening to some chill out music can be empowering aswell as giving peace of mind.

As soon as I hear it, it makes me stand still and take moment to just listen to my breathing and switch to my positive and empowering side of the mind.

So if you are stressing out find you peace of mind, whatever helps whether it is in music or getting fit, peace of mind is what we all need at times.

Many thanks for reading,

Carrie X
